DigitalPreservationEurope Survey on long-term preservation issues in European institutions

DPE invites archives, research institutions and relevant industry representatives to complete its survey on log-term preservation issues. The purpose of this survey is to identify present common practice and future plans considering digital preservation. Results will be published in a revised Market and Technology Trends Analysis made available on the DPE website. Complete Survey.

DRAMBORA is a joint nominee for Digital Preservation Award 2007 (DPC)

"DRAMBORA, a consortium of three major international digital preservation projects, to which the DPE has made a significant contribution, is one of five short listed nominees for the Digital Preservation Award, sponsored by the Digital Preservation Coalition as part of the 2007 Conservation Awards.
The Digital Preservation Award is sponsored by the Digital Preservation Coalition. This prestigious Award recognises achievement and encourages innovation in the new and challenging field of digital preservation – simply put, preserving things whose very existence depends on computers.
The award will be announced at a dinner at the British Museum on September 27th." More Info

Nestor Spring School 2007- Introduction to Digital preservation

nestor , the German "Network of Expertise in Long-Term Storage of Digital Resources", held its Spring School 2007 in Gernrode/Harz, Germany, from 11 – 15 March. This five day training event was organised by the Goettingen State and University Library (SUB), as the nestor partner responsible for training and education, together with representatives from FE and HE institutions. The event was sponsored by the Digital Preservation Europe (DPE) project and supported by the DELOS network of Excellence. DigitalPreservationEurope (DPE) Conference, Vilnius, 29 June 2007

In conjunction with the late June meeting of the partners leading DigitalPreservationEurope Vilnius University Faculty of Communication is organizing a conference on the preservation of digital contents on the 29th of June 2007. Participants in the conference will have the possibility to hear talks by and discuss with prominent specialists in the field of digital preservation.
Working language is English. Participation is free of charge. More Info

DCC and DPE Digital Repository Audit Tooklit and Tutorials

Together with The UK Digital Curation Centre, we are delighted to announce the release of our Digital Repository Audit Method Based on Risk Assessment (DRAMBORA) toolkit and supporting tutorials. This toolkit facilitates internal audit by providing repository administrators with a means to assess their capabilities, identify their weaknesses, and recognise their strengths.
