The National Archives of the Netherlands, and more specifically its Department of Digital Longevity, fulfils an important role within Dutch government and in the area of cultural heritage as a centre of expertise in the area of managing and preserving records. As such it helps to ensure that (digital) government records are sustainable, properly managed, and can be preserved in an authentic and re-usable manner for the long-term. Activities include research, advice, publishing, outreach, as well as participation in international projects, such as ERPANET, Planets, DigitalPreservationEurope, Delos, and InterPares. It also participates in work on standardisation in the field of recordkeeping and is member of ISO TC46/SC11 records and archives management.
