The CFLR has a digital laboratory that it operates in the field of acquisition, access and preservation of the Italian cultural heritage. Digital Laboratory has high resolution scanners, a digital library with high definition images and digital mass storage devices (RAID, optical device,...).
Moreover, the CFLR carries out research about: optical device (reliability and quality, monitoring status, life expentancy,...) and image formats (studies about JPEG2000 (robustness, quality,compression,interoparability, embedded-metadata...) and document imaging formats.
