The main task of CNIPA (National Centre for IT in Public Sector) is to give formal advice to Public Administrations on projects concerning Information and Communication Technologies (mandatory by law), to improve quality of services and hold down the costs of administrative procedures.
In brief CNIPA:
- fosters the use of new technologies enabling innovation
- contributes to the definition of standards and technical rules with special care on security, interoperability, openness and performances
- coordinates the development of training courses
- contributes to the definition of the Government IT policy
- carries out key projects in order to improve innovation in the public sector
