In June 2006 a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between DigitalPreservationEurope (DPE), Preservation and Long-term Access through Networked Services (PLANETS), and Cultural, Artistic and Scientific knowledge for Preservation, Access and Retrieval (CASPAR).

Main areas of cooperation:


To work towards the development and delivery of a collaborative web platform shared by the projects to serve as a common entry point to digital preservation and curation projects WePreserve to collaborate on the development of training and educational events and programs in Europe.

Baltic Audiovisual Archival Council (BAAC)

In January 2008 a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between DigitalPreservationEurope (DPE) and Baltic Audiovisual Archival Council (BAAC). The Baltic Audiovisual Archival Council (BAAC) is an independent non-profit organization, founded as a voluntary association to foster cooperation between public and private archives, broadcasting and TV archives, libraries and museums that possess collections of audiovisual materials relating to the Baltic States, Scandinavian countries and the worldwide Baltic Diaspora.


Main areas of cooperation:

To raise awareness concerning digital preservation issues among the Baltic States by implementing joint seminars, proposing experts of audiovisual digital archiving for DPE events, providing and sharing information about issues concerning the field of audiovisual archiving.

On January the 15th 2008 a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between DPE and the DCC.


Main areas of cooperation:

To collaborate on the development and delivery of training and educational events in the UK and across Europe; to identify and, if possible, exploit joint publicity mechanisms and opportunities and to support the dissemination of publications and mechanisms to ensure their visibility.

On February 2008 a cooperation agreement was signed between DigitalPreservationEurope (DPE) and IFLA Core Activity on Preservation and Conservation (PAC)


Main areas of cooperation:

  • To nominate a contact person and a reference e-mail and implement some joint 'communication channels' among the projects.
  • To promote available newsletters and publications (like deliverables or guidelines) that might interest the cluster audience.
  • To create a common calendar for events and training courses of wider interest.
  • To set up joint expert workgroups or execute data collection campaigns.
  • To adopt and promote common agendas and recommendations.
  • To plan participation to events outside EU in a coordinated way.

Ikaros, an electronic journal on the information society

Ikaros will serve as a media partner of DPE/Planets/CASPAR/nestor Joint Training Event: Starting out: Preserving Digital Objects - Principles and Practice which will take place in Prague from October 13th to October 17th, 2008. It will be responsible for the preparation and processing of videos and podcasts from the event. These will be subsequently made available via the Internet so that it can be further used not only within the project teams but also by other professionals in digital preservation and the general public.


Ikaros, an electronic journal on the information society, focuses on the Internet as a medium, a specific communication environment and source of information. The journal covers various aspects of information society, information science, librarianship and related fields and in 2007 the journal celebrated a decade of its existence. Ikaros is currently published by Ikaros, o.s., a non-governmental organization. It is widely read mostly in the Library and Information Science community especially in community in the Czech Republic and in Slovakia as it brings reports from current events as well as articles which present theoretical and practical aspects of LIS. Apart from publishing the journal Ikaros, o.s., has also experience in the provision of live video-broadcasting and online coverage of professional events, especially conferences.
